Since Tamano Consultants Co., Ltd. was founded in 1951, we have been providing engineering services in cooperation with local communities to build the social infrastructure required to support local development. During this time, Japan underwent dramatic growth. The social infrastructure in this country can now be regarded as having achieved the minimum level to provide the basic systems and services required to gradually fill in the remaining gaps.
In recent years, social and economic issues in Japan have become more complex and diverse, including such issues as the aging population, declining birthrate, information-based society and economic globalization. We must respond to such diverse social conditions, concepts and ideas within the country. Furthermore, to address the worldwide problems presented by global warming, Japan is expected to play a leading role in building a low-carbon society as an industrialized nation.
To meet the diverse needs of society, it is necessary to come up with new ideas, such as to improve or reform existing infrastructure, or to change its use, rather than to simply continue applying current technical solutions. Hence, we believe that conventional construction consulting services are not enough; what is really needed are more advanced technical solutions coupled with management systems.
Take urban development planning, for example. As population aging continues, people will naturally spend many years of their lives in urban areas. To enrich the lives of their inhabitants, it is essential to improve the quality of cities. In other words, we cannot simply maintain and manage the urban environment we have developed (the social infrastructure), but we must also foster and improve its quality. Thus there is a growing demand for better consulting services that can meet such needs.
To enhance its systems for providing such advanced consulting services, in April 2009 Tamano strengthened the functions of its Urban Planning & Promotion Department and established a new business section called the Urban Surveying Department.
Ever since the company was founded, Tamano has provided complete consulting services, encompassing over 560 urban development projects, mainly for land adjustment. In addition, we have contributed to numerous projects for roads, bridges, rivers, harbors, water and sewerage, and other social infrastructure. In working on these projects, we have assembled an advanced technical organization of more than 500 specialists with a variety of knowledge and know-how. We are confident that the Nippon Koei group can provide the integrated consulting services able to find the best solutions in response to the rapidly-changing needs of society.
The company motto of Tamano Consultants Co., Ltd. is "Outcomes with authority, Actions with integrity."
